Our startup HeyLetsGo's having a party Saturday night in Cambridge. You are all invited! It's at a pub so you should be over 21. Also the party is primarily for people on our site to meet and mingle so you should feel comfortable introducing yourself to people and be generally social. You can check out the party info and our Web site. Just drop me a line if you plan to come. - Rebecca (becca at alum dot mit dot edu)
Anyone planning on a night out on Saturday?
I love beer and code, I'm in - matty
I'd love to. -luke
Idem - José María
I'm in. -- L~
Yes, lets get something together - Adam Ely
I'm in. -eliazar
I'm game! What are some choices? Perhaps Dinner then drinks or a show?
I don't have good knowledge about restaurants in the area.
Blue Man Group has a show @ 10pm, although it is on the expensive side ($56+$9 from Ticketmaster). There appears to be 10 or so seats together still available in Section E at the Charles Playhouse. - Ted Tagami
Edit: I'm a goof and got my days confused. Let's get together for something not too loud where we can talk. -luke
I'm up for something more leisurely as well, where we can draw on napkins and mumble. -mr_luc
One of my friends recommends Jake Ivory's, a "sing-along pop music piano-bar". It's right near Fenway Park, which doesn't look very far from Cambridge. If you like music, it sounds like it's a ton of fun! Drop me a note if you're interested. -- Ryan
In case any of you are into indy horror/scifi flicks, the Boston Fantastic Film Festival is running Oct 13-16.
I'm also interested in a relaxed dinner after SS - anyone else in?
You can put your name down & find more info here: http://www.bluwiki.org/go/Dinner_After
-Sam
I'm down for dinner. A show or a movie wouldn't really make sense; we'd want to talk. -Alan
I'm with luc and luke -- somewhere we can talk. And I'll second matty on the beer, too. Rather than hash this out now (since some of us have never been to Boston), how about we just set some other criteria for the place we want to go and let the natives chime in with options? --Seth
there are a ton of places in harvard sq. and even more in the city. I'm not familiar much with harvard yahd (done on porpose ;)) but since i do goto school in the city i can certainly recommend some cool places to eat or drink (or combination of the two). Boston Beer works is awesome so is a place in allston called Sunset Grille. Boston Beer works brews their own beer and Sunset Grille has 100+ different types of beer on tap or in the bottle. Jake Ivory's I've heard mixed reviews of and haven't been there myself. I did go to a piano bar in Disney World and am afraid to go there and ruin the one and only Jelly Rolls in Downtown Disney. -Greg
I like the bar idea. I live just a few blocks away from Harvard, and can offer tons of suggestions of places to meet. Shay's in Harvard Square is personal favorite, also maybe Charlie's Kitchen (kickass jukebox, burgers, lobster roll).
Central Kitchen or People's Republik on Mass ave might be quiet enough for conversation.
Jake Ivory's is actually pretty far away, and would be really loud (they do live sing-a-longs). Sunset Grille/Big City is way out in Allston, and Boston Beer Works is on the other side of the river (and is likely a packed meat market on Friday nights). There's plenty of good bars within walking distance, so I recommend we stick to the stretch of Mass ave from Harvard to Central. Contact me if interested: jarrod [at] trainque [d0t] com. I can organize a group of us if it makes sense to have someone local arrange Sat night events. - Jarrod
